CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Much-needed rain is coming our way after a long time without precipitation, prompting the WCNC Weather Impact Team to issue a Weather Impact Alert window for the overnight hours Thursday going into Friday.

A cold front will push into the Carolinas beginning Thursday morning, first bringing showers to the mountains. By Thursday afternoon, storms will become better organized over the mountains.
