Tylenol-maker Kenvue is defending its popular pain reliever after the Trump administration linked use of the medication in pregnancy to autism.

On Monday, President Donald J. Trump and U.S. Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. announced the Food and Drug Administration will issue a notice to physicians and initiate a labeling change for acetaminophen, the generic name for the medication Tylenol.

“Tylenol during pregnancy can be associated with a very increased risk of autism, so taking Tylenol is not good,” said Trump during a press conference flanked by Kennedy and Dr. Mehmet Oz, current administrator for the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services.

Trump said it’s strongly recommended to limit using the drug during pregnancy “unless medically necessary.”
