ROCKFORD, Mich. (WOOD) — Rockford voters will soon decide on a $230 million bond proposal that would make improvements to nearly every building in the district.
The superintendent Steven Matthews said the proposal would keep the property tax rate unchanged, but some opposed to the proposal say the district can wait a few years before requesting the funding.
Matthews said the proposal would keep the tax rate property owners are paying to the district at 7 mils.
“We’re looking at replacing something before it breaks because once it breaks it becomes much more expensive to repair,” Matthews said. “The initial focus would be on providing air conditioning for our remaining buildings that don’t have it. Six out of our eight elementary buildings and our early childhood center don’t have air co
