NEW HAVEN, Conn. (WTNH) — A big change to New Haven's State Street was seen on Tuesday.
Between Chapel Street and Audubon streets, the northbound lane is now closed, with the southbound lane being converted to two-way traffic.
"We're not into it, because it is already congested you know," one driver said. "Like we drive into work downtown every single day five days a week, sure the bike lane no problem, but you can't take off half of state street
The closure is the latest phase of New Haven's "Downtown For All" project, aimed to improve infrastructure for bikers and walkers.
The northbound lane will be made accessible for bicycles and pedestrians.
