IOWA CITY — A hush fell over SHI Stadium on Friday night.
Mark Gronowski silenced more than 55,000 black-clad Rutgers fans as he made the perfect read on an option play, kept the ball and waltzed into the end.
No defender stood within five yards of the South Dakota State transfer as he put Iowa ahead 31-28 late in the fourth quarter.
As his teammates rushed to celebrate with him, Gronowski’s right hand came up to his right ear in a taunt to the sold-out crowd.
