HARTSVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) - A kitten is continuing to recover after reportedly being found with burns near the site of a Tennessee Valley Authority implosion in mid-September.

Smith County Humane reports that the kitten, Ashton, was found covered in ash and with burns.

Ashton was found with the injuries after the TVA tower in Hartsville was brought down, according to the Humane Society.

The TVA released the following statement:

Safety—for people, pets, and wildlife—is always our top priority. In the days, hours, and minutes leading up to the Hartsville cooling tower implosion, TVA deployed both aerial drones and ground crews to carefully survey the area.
