FORSYTH COUNTY, N.C. — Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Schools notified about 300 employees Monday that their jobs are being reduced to 10-month contracts (215 workdays) beginning in fiscal year 2026. District officials say the change is part of the board-approved reduction-in-force (RIF). This change is projected to save about $1.8 million.
Positions affected include assistant principals, athletic directors, exceptional children’s staff and school counselors.
In another step of the RIF implementation, more than 600 positions were furloughed over the weekend, a move expected to save the district an additional $1.5 million.
Some employees will be impacted by both the 10-month reduction and the furloughs.
Meanwhile, the district’s finance committee voted Monday to post a new policy for th
