WASHINGTON COUNTY, Tenn. (WJHL) - The Washington County Commission voted unanimously Tuesday to increase funding for school security, approving $2 million of next year's budget for security upgrades.
The money will allow Washington County Schools to complete the second phase of its security improvement plans.
The first phase of the plan added security vestibules at the entrances of the two high schools in the county. According to Washington County Schools Superintendent Jerry Boyd, the additional funds allow the same measures to be added to the K-8 buildings as well.
