NEWINGTON, Conn. — Newington police said Tuesday that they arrested a Hartford man who allegedly assaulted a woman and broke into a home before leading officers on a pursuit.

According to police, officers went to an "undisclosed location" in Newington on Sept. 20 after receiving a report of a domestic dispute.

Daniel Sampel, 25, of Hartford, allegedly assaulted a woman, who retreated into a home with two kids inside. Police said Sampel then forced his way into the home by breaking the front door.

Five protective orders were in place restricting Sampel from entering the home. Police also noted that the individuals knew each other and that it was not a random act.
