SHREVEPORT, La. — A Mooringsport man has pleaded guilty to causing a fatal crash while driving under the influence, avoiding a trial scheduled to begin this week.
Scott Millis, 49, was sentenced by District Judge Chris Victory to 20 years at hard labor for vehicular homicide and five years at hard labor for first-degree vehicular negligent injuring. He was also ordered to pay a $2,000 fine and undergo substance abuse counseling.
The charges stem from a crash on Jan. 11, 2024, at North Market Street and Poleman Road. Millis, driving without headlights, struck a car driven by Destiny Stewart, killing her. A passenger, J.L. Young, was seriously injured.
