Stansted Airport has been hit by delays following a fire that erupted in the early hours. The departure lounge was temporarily shut down due to the blaze, causing train services within the airport to be delayed. ‌

The airport issued a statement just before 6.30am, saying: "Following the fire in our escape lounge earlier this morning we are awaiting clearance from the emergency services to reopen the departure lounge and start processing passengers through security again. ‌
