Dangerous dogs list update confirmed after cane corso fears View Image

Early last year, it became a criminal offence to own or possess an XL Bully dog in England and Wales without a valid Certificate of Exemption as they were listed under the Dangerous Dogs Act 1991. More recently, fears started circulating as Cane Corso dogs were speculated to be the next breed joining the list.

Seeking clarity on the situation, Conservative MP Gregory Stafford put it to the Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs.

He questioned: “If she will make an assessment of the potential merits of bringing forward legislative proposals to prohibit cane corso dogs under the Dangerous Dogs Act 1991.”
