When media outlets are owned by corporations, their commitment is to profit, rather than truth or democracy. If a fascist regime wants to control media, all it has to do is threaten corporate profits to exert control. This leads to a government of oligarchs, by oligarchs, and for oligarchs.

That’s not what the American experiment was supposed to be about, so it’s up to “we the people” to fight back. If we can’t trust corporate-owned media, shun them in favor of independent content creators. Donate to public media and other public interest organizations.
