Massachusetts is set to see some much-needed rain amid an ongoing drought, with showers beginning Wednesday morning and continuing throughout much of the day.
Widespread showers and embedded thunderstorms are set to move east before daybreak, with a weak cold front stalling just south of the coast as high pressure builds from the south. That will lead to a cloudy and cooler day across Massachusetts, with scattered showers continuing.
“Can’t rule out an isolated thunderstorm this afternoon,” National Weather Service forecasters wrote.
Temperatures should stay relatively cool on Wednesday, with highs in the mid to upper 60s or low 70s.
By the evening, there is a chance for a lull in the rain, but more showers are set to develop late Wednesday night, moving in from the west into Thursday
