HOLLY SPRINGS, N.C. (WNCN) — A new life biology science manufacturing facility has opened in Holly Springs, a symbol of a huge direction in tech jobs and research for North Carolina.

FUJIFILM Diosynth Biotechnologies announced that the new biopharmaceutical manufacturing facility opened on Wednesday in Holly Springs. This is part of a multi-billion-dollar investment in the life sciences sector in the state and will employ nearly 700 people.

According to FUJIFILM, this will be the largest cell culture biopharmaceutical CDMO facility in North America, "serving as the cornerstone for the company’s global, fully integrated kojoX manufacturing network."
