Ezri Konsa admits that Unai Emery was right to describe Aston Villa 's defending as 'lazy' following the weekend's draw with Sunderland.

Villa faced 10 men at the Stadium of Light for over an hour but still failed to secure what would have been their first win of the season.

Matty Cash opened the scoring in the 67th minute with the club’s first league goal of the campaign, but Wilson Isidor equalised shortly after.

Following the match, Emery criticised his players for being lazy in defence, failing to win duels, and lacking identity on the pitch.

Speaking ahead of Villa’s first Europa League group stage fixture of the season against Bologna on Thursday, Konsa addressed the media at Bodymoor Heath and was asked about Emery’s comments.
