LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — The Nevada Commission of Ethics agreed in a settlement on Tuesday that Nevada Governor Joe Lombardo didn't commit a willful violation of state ethics, but would be assessed a $5,000 payment.
The ethics complaint case began in 2021, when the Nevada Commission of Ethics investigated whether Lombardo used his Clark County Sheriff's uniform and badge while campaigning for the governor's seat in the 2022 election. Lombardo was fined and censured by the commission in 2023, but the Republican governor sued to overturn the finding, and the Nevada Supreme Court ruled in his favor because the law wasn't clear.
