SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — The Springfield Police Department (SPD) has estimated the number of people who attended Monday's vigil for Charlie Kirk at Missouri State University, held by Turning Point USA's MSU branch.

Springfield Police were out patrolling the event, alongside MSU security and security from a local church.

According to an SPD spokesperson, around "1,500 to 2,000" attendees showed up to the vigil to show support following the fatal shooting of Kirk at Utah Valley University earlier this month.

Turning Point USA Chapter President Megan Hartman had told Ozarks First at the event she had no idea "how many people to expect," and that it was "really awesome to see the turnout.”

Our coverage of the vigil can be found here.
