NORFOLK, Va. — Tropical Storm Humberto has formed to the northeast of the Caribbean, about 500 miles north of the Leeward Islands, moving west-northwest at 10 mph with maximum sustained winds of 45 mph.
Humberto is expected to continue strengthening over the weekend, potentially becoming a major hurricane by Monday morning. The good news is models currently suggest it will curve out to sea by the middle to end of next week, though rough surf and high rip current risks will continue in the region.
Meanwhile, Invest 94-L, located southwest of Humberto, has a 70% chance of developing over the next two days. This system is moving west-northwest at 15–20 mph, spreading heavy rainfall and gusty winds across Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands today, and into the Dominican Republic tonight.
