CONCORD, N.C. —

Vice President JD Vance visited Concord, North Carolina, where he addressed a crowd of supporters at the Concord-Padgett Regional Airport, focusing on public safety and the administration's efforts to support law enforcement.

Vance was surrounded by local law enforcement officers on Wednesday as he spoke on several topics, including 23-year-old Iryna Zarutska, who was fatally stabbed last month on the Charlotte light rail.

"We don't want a criminal justice system that goes after innocent people," Vance said. "We also don't want a criminal justice system that lets violent felons off out of prison without any real consequences. I go back to the statistic that we have such a small number of people commit the violent crime, if we just lock them up."
