ERWIN, Tenn. (WJHL) - Unicoi County Long Term Recovery Group (LTRG) hosted a week-long event to bring support to the community after the devastation from Hurricane Helene.

The "Week of Well Wishes" began Sunday and will go on until Saturday, on the first anniversary of the hurricane.

Wednesday's event was held at the Erwin Town Hall and was a dedication and prayer service to honor the six individuals who lost their lives in the flooding.

During the ceremony, a statue was unveiled with the names of those who died.

Chairman for Unicoi County LTRG, Ben Booher, said it's been a strange year in the sense of looking back and seeing how far the recovery process has been, but he's proud to be a part of the Erwin community and to continue looking forward.
