COLUMBIA — Columbia's Turning Point Chapter for University of Missouri students held its first meeting at Memorial Union on Wednesday.

The meeting began with members honoring political activist Charlie Kirk with a moment of silence, dedicating all future meetings to him.

The chapter has grown over 150 members since Kirk's passing.

Turning Point's Chapter President Paige Schulte said she was inspired by Kirk to stand up for her beliefs.

"So I've been watching Charlie Kirk forever, and he's the one that's inspired me to do this. I used to not have as much courage, but now I'm more courageous and willing to do this. I think Charlie's death really impacted a lot of people and showed a lot of people that there's a revival in our world happening right now."
