The leaders of the Liberals and PCs are trading barbs over election slogans.

Both parties displayed podium signs reading “Safer Communities,” during campaign stops yesterday.

The PCs have used the slogan before, and both the Tories and Liberals used it yesterday.

Liberal Leader John Hogan was asked about the similarity, coyly rounding the podium to have a look.

“I do think there’s a big difference, their sign doesn’t say Churchill Falls MOU on it.”

The Liberals are campaigning on the premise that the revenue generated by a finalized Churchill Falls MOU will allow for improved programs and services including hiring more police officers.
