A fundraiser has been started to help rebuild part of the Western Bay Boardwalk that was damaged by wildfires this past summer.

In a post to social media, Western Bay Lighthouse Trails says they are currently in the process of rebuilding a section of the structure which was part of their 2025 plan before the fires.

They also need to rebuild another 15 sections from the ground up, and they are already putting plans in place to fix up parts that were burned.

They say they usually get both a provincial and federal government grant for the work, but this year they did not receive the federal component so they can’t do as much as they had hoped.

An email has been set up for people who would like to make a donation.
