Two officers were placed on administrative leave following an officer-involved shooting in Hixson early Thursday morning. The suspect was shot after hitting a police vehicle and nearly running over an officer.

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) — Chattanooga police were involved in a shooting Thursday morning in Hixson.

Around 2:15 a.m., CPD officers responded to a burglary call in the 2100 block of Hamill Road.

The first officer found the male suspect who was trying to escape in a vehicle.

That officer gave multiple commands for the suspect to exit the vehicle, but he refused to comply.

A second officer then arrived, attempting to remove him.

At that point, CPD reports that the suspect struck a police vehicle and nearly ran over one of their officers. As a result, the suspect was shot.
