STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. -- Back in the day, you didn’t have to leave Staten Island if you wanted to see top bands, be they punk or heavy metal acts, favorite established rockers or new wave groups.

Venues like the Paramount, the St. George Theatre and the Factory regularly hosted rock luminaries as well and up-and-coming bands. The early 1980s were a golden age for concerts here.
