The City of Vincent has made some major changes to its draft policy for short-term rental accommodation, after receiving serious backlash from local residents.
At the city’s council meeting on Tuesday night, councillors voted unanimously in support of the amendment to the local planning scheme and changes to its STRA draft policy.
Councillor Sophie Greer moved an additional amendment that would reduce the radius of short-term accommodations to be within 100 metres walkable distance of tourist destinations and transit stop on a high-frequency public transport route.
This was reduced from the original requirement of 400 metres and was carried unanimously.
