Police have launched increased patrols in a Teesside community following reports that a man was reportedly trying to lure schoolchildren into a van by 'offering sweets and water'. A parent highlighted the incident on social media explaining the incident happened near Uppals Off Licence on Ormesby Bank.

On their Facebook page Uppals Off Licence urged any frightened youngsters to go into the shop for help. The post states: "In light of the recent horrible situation where a man on Ormesby Bank was trying to get a child into his transit van.

"Please let your kids know if they are scared please go into the shop and a member of staff will help. We are one big community store and all should be looking out for each other."
