STILLMAN VALLEY, Ill. (WTVO) — Stillman Valley High School was placed on lockdown and a student was taken into police custody Thursday morning.

According to the Ogle County Sheriff's Office, deputies were called to the school around 9:15 a.m. after receiving a call from the School Resource Officer, regarding an "uncooperative student in the office."

Administrators put the school on soft lockdown as a precautionary measure, police said, as authorities from Byron Police and the Stillman Fire Protection District responded to the scene.

"While this was not a violent encounter, it serves as a perfect example of how cooperation and planning between agencies help ensure a safe and timely resolution to potential school safety concerns,” Sheriff Brian VanVickle said in a statement.
