NORTH OLMSTED, Ohio (WOIO) - Whatever displaced tenants need, Kayla McCoy has it.
The local woman has started a donation collection for people impacted by the large fire Sunday at Westbury Apartments.
“Clothes, toiletries, toys, baby items,” she said. “You name it, we started collecting it.”
She, along with her family, have gathered all types of donations with the help of the North Olmsted community.
This Friday, Sept. 26, McCoy anticipates throwing an even bigger donation drive.
Everything is going towards tenants without a home.
More than 40 units in the 19-story building are currently unlivable.
“A lot of these families have kids. A lot of them are elderly, sick. I couldn’t imagine” said McCoy. “I couldn’t imagine losing everything in a matter of minutes.”
