TOPEKA, Kan. (KAKE) - The Kansas Corporation Commission has approved a settlement agreement allowing Evergy to increase its rates by $128 million beginning next month.

A release from the KCC said the rate increase will allow Evergy to recover investments made to replace aging equipment and increase the resiliency and reliability of the power grid. Residential customers with an average monthly usage of 900 kWh will see an increase of about $8.47 per month.
