GREECE, N.Y. (WROC) — The Greece Police Department is offering residents the chance to help protect their community without becoming full-time officers.
The town is known for large celebrations like the Food Truck Rodeo and summer concert series. With events drawing big crowds, Greece police are seeking volunteers to assist with safety.
The Special Police Unit is made up of everyday residents who volunteer their time to help during parades, festivals, and road closures. Duties include traffic control, crowd management, and parking enforcement.
Residents say the extra help is reassuring.
“I think it’s great that they’re reaching out to the community and getting their assistance,” said Susan Eisenberg, a Greece resident. “It just makes you feel more like a community. We’re a very large a
