State pensioners are set to be sent crucial letters over the £300 Winter Fuel Payment - if they're born before 1959. An expansion over the eligibility and criteria from the Department for Work and Pensions ( DWP ) will hand older people £300.
The DWP will handout a payment of £200 per household, or £300 per household where there is someone over 80, will be made automatically this winter.
You must have been born on or before September 21, 1959 to qualify for the Winter Fuel Payment. Most people will receive the cash automatically in November and December. A letter will be sent beforehand outlining whether you're due the payment and how much you will get.
