Six crews rushed to the scene of a house fire in Birmingham this morning, Saturday, September 27 - as an 'avoid the area' warning was issued.

West Midlands Fire Service said they were called to Twyford Road, Ward End , at 9.12am.

There were no rescues made. One person was taken to hospital with a head injury, which is not believed to be life-threatening.

A fire spokeswoman confirmed there had been a fire in loft area of the property.

An aerial platform was used as part of putting the flames out.
