SULLIVAN’S ISLAND, S.C. (WCBD) – The Town of Sullivan’s Island is taking steps to be better prepared for potential flooding conditions.

Town council and community officials will hold a Friday morning groundbreaking ceremony on the drainage improvement project.

Officials with the town said the project is designed to reduce flooding and improve the existing stormwater management system on the island.

Specifically, they say it will improve drainage outfalls at Station 28 ½ and Station 31, as well as upgrade major underground pipes.

The ceremony will be held at the corner of Jasper Boulevard and Station 28 ½ at 10 a.m.
