GREENVILLE, S.C. (FOX Carolina) - FOX Carolina staff members are sharing their stories of Hurricane Helene.

Hurricane Helene was the most devastating natural disaster to ever hit the Western Carolinas. It claimed more than 250 lives, the majority of which were in our area.

FOX Carolina Photojournalist Scott Freund was in the field in Greenville the morning Helene hit. He also covered many stories out of the mountains, including the harrowing interview during which a woman described floodwaters claiming the life of her neighbor.
