BAY CITY, MI — No criminal charges are forthcoming against Saginaw County Animal Care & Control staff after a veterinarian alleged two dogs went untreated for broken bones.
Bay County Prosecutor Michael P. Kanuszewski confirmed Thursday, Sept. 25, his office would not be issuing charges following review of a Michigan State Police animal cruelty investigation. Though the alleged misconduct occurred in Saginaw County, Kanuszewski functioned as a special prosecutor after the Prosecuting Attorney’s Coordinating Council gave him the case on Aug. 15.
Kanuszewski declined to bring charges as he didn’t think he could meet his burden of proof beyond a reasonable doubt, he said.
