FLORENCE COUNTY, S.C. (WBTW) -- The American Red Cross wants to make sure you're prepared ahead of any potential tropical weather.

Kara Byrd with the American Red Cross says hurricane preparedness kits are important to create, with things like flashlights, batteries, chargers, prescriptions, and placing your important paperwork in waterproof containers.

Some other things you can do include filling your car with gas and always having some cash on hand.

"You really want to be diligent in making a plan," Byrd said. "Making a plan consists of making sure you have that plan if you stay home or if you are to evacuate. And you want to make sure if you are without electricity for a week that you are able to survive, so making sure you have your go kit, that plan if you have to evacuate and what
