LONGVIEW, Texas (KETK)-- A ceremony was held on Friday to recognize members of the Longview Fire Department who assisted in Kerrville following the deadly floods that took place there this past July.

In the aftermath of the floods, members of the department spent roughly 14 days in Kerrville and assisted with several evacuations. During the ceremony, those who were in Kerrville were awarded the unit citation award, which is bestowed for outstanding bravery during critical conditions

Longview Fire Chief Gregg Grimes spoke about the award and what it means to him and his department.
