CHESAPEAKE, Va. — A moment of silence was held before Friday night's Indian River High School football game. One of their players, Raheem Brown, had passed away the day before after being shot.

Police found the 15-year-old on Sunday evening on Sun Avenue . Brown had sustained life-threatening injuries, police said, and passed away at the hospital on Thursday.

Brown was known as "Debow" to family and friends for his ability on the football field. His older sister, Destinee Roberson, said she became his guardian after his mother passed away, and she said losing someone she raised is a pain like no other.

“It felt like somebody snatched my heart out of my chest. It didn’t feel real, it didn’t feel real," Roberson told 13News Now.
