EUREKA — Kirkwood junior Travis Shores Jr. knew he had his work cut out for him heading into this football season.
Shores had his football world turned upside down when Kirkwood coach Jeremy Maclin approached him about switching from quarterback to wide receiver.
“I was like, ‘This is going to be a hard transition,' ” Shores admitted.
The 6-foot speedster made it look easy Friday at Eureka, hauling in a pair of touchdowns including the game-winner as Kirkwood pulled out a 24-21 win in a Suburban Conference Yellow Pool football game.
Maclin, who starred as a wide receiver at Missouri and in the NFL, would certainly know about the position.
