BELLEVILLE — Dreams do come true.

Ask Edwardsville High quarterback Yale Weaver.

The 6-foot-3, 202-pound senior said he dreamed of this scenario in his backyard with his brother.

Now he has lived it.

Weaver rallied the Edwardsville Tigers to a heart-stopping 41-39 victory over the Belleville East Lancers in a Southwestern Conference football game Friday night on Charlie Woodford Field.

The drive

Here’s what Weaver and the Edwardsville offense faced: 80 yards from the end zone, trailing 39-35, with less than a minute to play. No timeouts.

No problem.

“For sure, that’s the most fun I’ve had in football for a long, long time,” Weaver said.
