Police are looking to trace a driver after a hit-and-run in the city.

On Friday, September 26, a 29-year-old man was struck by a van on Prestonfield Avenue. The van driver failed to stop, and police are looking to track them down - along with the vehicle.

The pedestrian was taken to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh. His current condition is unknown.

The road was blocked off for some time as emergency services attended.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 9.40pm on Friday, 26 September, 2025, we were called to a report of a 29-year-old man struck by a van on Prestonfield Avenue, Edinburgh which failed to stop.

"Emergency services attended and he was taken to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh. Enquiries are ongoing to trace the driver and the vehicle involved."
