MINNEAPOLIS — Thousands of people turned downtown Minneapolis purple Saturday morning in the Walk to End Alzheimer’s, Twin Cities.

The annual event is the largest fundraiser for the Alzheimer’s Association. And this year, the Twin Cities walk at Target Field ranks as the largest walk in the country, with more than 10,000 people participating. The Twin Cities walk has also already raised more than $1.2 million – the goal is $1.5 million – all of which goes to research, education and resources for those living with dementia and their care partners.

KARE 11’s Karla Hult again served as emcee, which she’s done for many years in honor of her dad and other relatives who’ve all finished what she calls their “Alzheimer’s marathons.”
