GREEN BAY, Wis. (WBAY) - It was a sea of purple at Green Bay’s city deck on Saturday morning for the Walk to End Alzheimer’s.

Over 1,000 people participated in the 2-mile walk to help find a cure for Alzheimer’s.

In Wisconsin, more than 110,000 people have been diagnosed with the disease, with over 5,000 of those people living in Brown County.

The event kicked off at 8:30 a.m. with an opening ceremony.

Purple, blue, orange, and yellow pinwheels were placed all around the city deck and along the walking path for the promise garden.

Each color represents a personal connection to Alzheimer’s.

Many supporters say they walked for loved ones impacted by the disease.
