Man in critical condition following shooting in Cumberland

CUMBERLAND, Indiana — Police in Cumberland are investigating following a shooting Sunday evening that left a man in critical condition.

According to a release from the Cumberland Police Department, around 7 p.m. on Sept. 28, officers were called to the 11000 block of Dunshire Drive on a report of a disturbance with a weapon.

When officers arrived, they say they found an adult male suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. He was taken to an Indianapolis hospital in critical condition, police said.

According to a preliminary investigation, police believe the incident was a disturbance between an adult male and adult female that led to the shooting. Police say the woman is being cooperative with police and officers are conducting interviews and collecting evidence at the scene.
