Western Australia-based Mineral Resources will sack at least 100 contract workers after finishing repairs on a road that had a string of accidents on it.
The $8.3b company on Monday revealed it has upgraded the Onslow Iron private haul road which connects its mining operation with ports on Western Australia’s coast.
MinRes, which employed at least 100 contractors to help transport the iron ore while repairs took place, will soon only use its fleet of about 140 road trains with in-house drivers on the 150km-long road, according to The Australian.
The company reduced the speed of deliveries and sizes of loads in March after accidents occurred along the road.
