A major UK railway station has been evacuated after thousands of commuters and holidaymakers endured rail chaos.

London Gatwick Airport Station was cleared of all passengers due to overcrowding today.

All northbound and southbound services were also suspended due to disruption at Three Bridges train station and Luton train station.

Thameslink has also cancelled all their services until further notice after a person was hit by a train between Luton and St Albans City at 9.13am

A second person was then hit by a train between Haywards Heath and Gatwick Airport at 10.55am. Commuter numbers swelled at Gatwick Airport station as services ground to a halt, forcing staff to evacuate the platforms.
