A European airline has ceased to operate, cancelling all flights with immediate effect. Icelandic airline PLAY flew from Liverpool John Lennon Airport as well as London Stansted.
Thousands of passengers are set to be impacted while around 400 employees face losing jobs. The airline had been operating for just four years when it made the announcement. It did not fly from Manchester Airport .
In a statement on its website, PLAY said: "Dear passenger, Fly PLAY hf. has ceased operations, and all flights have been cancelled. We kindly advise you to check flights with other airlines. Some carriers may offer special “rescue fares” considering the circumstances.”
