Oster is recalling about 1,290,000 of its French Door Countertop Ovens sold across the U.S. due to a burn hazard that has resulted in consumer injuries, including second-degree burns.

According to a notice published by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission , the spring-loaded bilateral doors on Oster’s countertop ovens can unexpectedly close during use, therefore, posing a serious risk of burns to users reaching into the oven.

That can result in significant injuries, the commission warns. The recall notice notes that Sunbeam Products Inc., the importer, has received 95 reports of the doors closing unexpectedly. There have been two reported cases of second-degree burns.

Consumers in possession of these now-recalled ovens are urged to stop using them immediately and contact Sunbeam
